The country’s longest-running firearms expo is set for its biggest expansion yet as the Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers of the Philippines (AFAD) prepares to take the Defense and Sporting Arms Show (DSAS) to Davao City and Cagayan de Oro in 2026.

AFAD spokesman Alaric “Aric” Topacio confirmed that groundwork is underway to mount regional editions of DSAS as early as March next year, marking the first time the industry event will be staged outside Metro Manila in consecutive years.

“Aside from our Manila shows, which are set for July, our cooperation with the LGUs in Davao and Cagayan de Oro is ongoing,” Topacio said. “We plan to bring DSAS to the regions starting March to serve more responsible gun owners and enthusiasts.”

Topacio said growing demand from the provinces has driven the push to expand.

“We’ve received a lot of requests to hold the show in the provinces. Davao and Cagayan de Oro are ideal locations to begin expanding the program beyond Manila,” he said. “We already have strong connections in Davao because we held a show there last year. I’m hoping CDO will be just as smooth.”

The expansion plans come as DSAS quietly returned to its original home at the Megamall Megatrade Hall in Mandaluyong, where the second part of the 31st edition opened Tuesday (Nov. 18). About 40 exhibitors are taking part, showcasing locally made and imported firearms, optics, accessories, and other shooting equipment. The expo runs until Friday, November 21.

Topacio stressed that DSAS has steadily grown beyond being a commercial showcase.

“DSAS isn’t only a venue to showcase the latest hardware. It’s equally a platform for learning,” he said. “Our goal is to help attendees build awareness, strengthen their skills, and fully understand the responsibilities of gun ownership. That commitment to education is what sets this show apart.”

He added that the show continues to serve as a gathering point for the country’s firearms community.

“DSAS is about community. This is where curious first-timers, hobbyists, sport shooters, industry players, and even government officials come together to share knowledge and promote a culture built on safety, respect, and accountability.”

To streamline transactions, exhibitors are offering automatic discounts, while Philippine National Police (PNP) representatives are on-site to assist with licensing and documentation.

Topacio said AFAD remains focused on elevating standards in an expanding sector.

“Our vision is to continue raising standards—not just in products, but in education and safe practices. As the community grows, so must our commitment to guiding it,” he said.
