Following their historic performance at the 2nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Deaf Games in Jakarta, the Table Tennis Association for National Development (TATAND) hosted a victory lunch to honor the Philippine National Deaf Table Tennis Team.
The Philippines bagged a total of 25 medals (7 gold, 6 silver, 12 bronze), finishing second overall among participating nations. The deaf table tennis squad powered this achievement with a clean sweep of five gold medals—an unprecedented feat that underscored their discipline, determination, and pride in carrying the country’s colors.
As a gesture of gratitude, TATAND presented cash tokens to the medalists during the celebration.
TATAND officials attended the event led by President Marcos De Jesus, Vice Presidents Richmond Ong, Richard Koa, and Lawrence Tan, along with Honorary Presidents Charlie Lim and Philip Uy.
The organizers also gave special recognition to Charlie Lim, acknowledged as one of the enduring pillars of Philippine table tennis, and to Philip Uy, representative of JOOLA Philippines—the official apparel sponsor of the national deaf table tennis team.
Coach Kurt De Guzman, who steered the team to victory, praised his players’ efforts:
“This victory reflects the dedication, sacrifice, and heart of our athletes. We are deeply grateful to TATAND for recognizing their accomplishments and for continuously supporting deaf sports.”
The celebration highlighted not only the athletes’ victories but also the shared commitment of leaders, coaches, and supporters to strengthen inclusivity and excellence in Philippine sports.
