With the country’s firearms industry continuing to expand, the Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers of the Philippines, Inc. (AFAD) is set to hold the 31st Defense & Sporting Arms Show (DSAS) final of its two-part show on November 18–21 at the Megamall Trade Hall, Mandaluyong City.

Following a successful run last July at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, the year-end edition marks a much-anticipated return to DSAS’s original home at Megamall. The five-day event aims to support the growing number of responsible firearms owners and enthusiasts seeking guidance on the legal acquisition and responsible use of firearms under existing government regulations.

“We’re excited as this is a homecoming of sorts for DSAS,” said AFAD Spokesperson Aric Topacio. “Law enforcement will be present in the venue to assist and guide applicants in the process of obtaining their License to Own and Possess Firearm (LTOPF) and Firearm Registration (FR).”

More than 40 exhibitors will showcase a wide array of the latest imported and locally produced firearms, ammunition, and accessories. The show will also feature seminars and workshops on firearm handling, cleaning, and storage — designed to educate enthusiasts, hobbyists, and first-time gun owners alike.

According to Topacio, the sustained growth of firearm clubs, organizations, and shooting ranges nationwide highlights a shift in public perception.

“Firearms are increasingly viewed as part of a lifestyle — for sport, recreation, and collecting — not just for defense,” he added.

“Clearly, there’s a continuing growth of responsible firearm ownership,” Topacio said. AFAD is committed to serving and guiding our community by working closely with government agencies such as the PNP, AFP, NBI, DILG, and NAPOLCOM. Owning a gun is a citizen’s right — but also a responsibility.”

Top officials from government and law enforcement agencies were invited to grace the opening ceremony.
