Underscoring the vibrant spirit of gymnastics, the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) has unveiled “Leap High, Flip Strong!” as the official motto of the 3rd Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships, set to open next month at the Manila Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.
“‘Leap High, Flip Strong!’ is more than just a campaign slogan. It’s a rallying cry for our 24 million Filipino youth to take a leap of faith, especially in these challenging times—to explore, soar high, and pursue growth and development,” said GAP president Cynthia Carrion.
Carrion—largely credited for the success of Paris Olympic Games double gold medalist Carlos Edriel Yulo and a recent recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Siklab Atleta Youth Awards—said the motto carries deep meaning beyond competition.
“The slogan cultivates a positive mindset, encouraging people to believe in themselves and their abilities. This belief is essential for success in any endeavor, including the demanding sport of gymnastics,” said Carrion, who has led the local gymnastics federation to unprecedented heights over the past decade.
Those qualities will be on display throughout the world-class tournament, which the Philippine Sports Commission and the Department of Tourism will support.
“Power and strength serve as solid foundations to excel in this demanding sport—and in life. They highlight the preparation and discipline required to execute complex moves both in gymnastics and the real world,” she explained.
Carrion also noted that while strength and power are vital, gymnasts must combine them with grace and agility, making the sport one of the most visually captivating to fans and athletes alike.
“The 3rd Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships will be a festive celebration of movement, artistry, grace, exuberance, and elegance—showcasing our budding gymnasts who will surely captivate a global audience,” Carrion said of the event set for November 20 to 24 at Newport World Resorts.
She proudly announced that nearly 900 athletes from 76 countries had already confirmed their participation in the prestigious competition, sanctioned by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and the Asian Gymnastics Union.
Carrion also credited the event’s success to the all-out support of Megaworld REIT chairman and sportsman Kevin Tan, who heads the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), LOC chairman William Vincent “Vinny” Marcos—son of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.—and the Pasay City government under Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano.
The tournament’s official hotel partners include Manila Marriott Hotel, Sheraton Manila, Hilton Manila, Belmont Manila, Hotel Okura, Savoy Hotel, and Hilton Express.
