MOBA Games, Pinoy version, anyone?

The dream of many Filipino game developers will soon be a reality as the Filipino MOBA game ‘Vi the Game’ is now on its final review and test under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) supervision.

“Brace yourself for the next big thing in Esports! 'Vi the Game' delivers high-octane action, where strategy meets chaos. Dive into its unique 'Corrupted Abyss' mode and experience the thrill of surviving relentless monster waves while safeguarding your ancient structure,” said Gridlock-Games president and Chief Executive Officer Odale Patrick during a media launching recently at the New World Hotel in Pasay City.

Gridlock-Games Vice President Rob Saluna said ‘Vi the Game’ could easily match the excitement and thrill of internationally known MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Paladins and League of Legends.

“We’re very proud and thankful, especially sa DOST for the help and support and the partnership with Esports World Federation. Kaya natin at papatunayan natin ang malikhaing talento ng Pinoy,” Saluna stressed.

The ‘Vi the Game’ will be available in the market next year in February.

Also present during the media launching are DOST Esports Development head Engr. Romelen Tresvalles, ESWF President and Founder Arniel Gutierrez, Cybercraft Philippines President Ranulf Goss, DOST Supervising Science Research Specialist Warren Gomez.

Tresvalles said the breakthrough in game development is the result of years of study, research, and partnership of DOST to universities and other institutions as well as ESWF, the international esports federation formed and based in the Philippines, headed by Arniel Gutierrez.

During the launching a memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed by DOST, EWSF a and Gridlock-Games. Witnessing the signing are representatives of the different esports groups led by Miniski and internet provider Convergys.

“Ito na ang simula ng pag-angat ng Esports sa bans ana kapwa Pinoy natin ang developers at engineer’s ng mga mga games. May sarili na tayong MOBA na maipagmamalaki sa international community. Malaking tulong syenore ang DOST,” said Gutierrez who said that the ‘Vi the Game’ will be soon adopted by more than 100 Esports Association under ESWF worldwide.

“The Philippines will soon became the Mecca in Esports,” Gutierrez said.
