Fresh from their victorious stint at the Asian Open Schools Invitational (AOSI) in Bangkok, Thailand, the Swim League Philippines (SLP) delegation, “The Patriots,” paid a courtesy call on Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner Fritz Gaston recently.
Flying the Philippine flag with pride, the Patriots’ regional squads delivered strong performances on the international stage. The Patriots Luzon clinched the Overall Championship Trophy, and the Patriots Visayas bagged the Second Runner-Up honors. At the same time, the Patriots Mindanao turned in inspiring swims highlighted by multiple personal best times across various events.
Commissioner Gaston lauded the young swimmers for their discipline, commitment, and contribution to the country’s sporting prestige.
“These young athletes not only brought home medals but also brought honor to the Philippines through their sportsmanship and determination,” said Gaston.
Adding to the celebration, Global Aquatics Chairman Mr. Chanaka Fernando presented the SLP with a prestigious Award of Appreciation for its consistent role as a driving force in grassroots aquatics development in the Asia-Pacific region. The honor highlighted SLP’s mission of nurturing talents from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao while supporting the national federation, Philippine Aquatics Inc. (PSI) program.
SLP President Fred Galang Ancheta and SLP Chairman Joan Mojdeh expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed their commitment to grassroots swimming.
“We are proud of what our swimmers have accomplished. This success is a testament to the hard work of our athletes, coaches, parents, and the entire grassroots swimming community. We are equally thankful to the PSC for its continuous support,” the SLP leaders said.
With its “blue and green sports program,” Swim League Philippines continues to provide support in Philippine aquatics development, producing not only medalists but also ambassadors of discipline, perseverance, inclusivity, and national pride.
