Jordan Brand is unveiling the Air Jordan 40: a game shoe that’s uniquely designed for the modern game and to power the performance of today’s top playmakers.
As the latest addition to the most impactful franchise in the history of the game, the Air Jordan 40 is a barrier-breaking silhouette created for the next generation of greats — ushering in a new era of Jordan Brand basketball performance.

The Air Jordan 40 advances the era-defining franchise, debuted by Michael Jordan four decades ago, in a new performance silhouette that’s built for today’s athletes and the specifics of the modern game. That approach influences every aspect of the shoe, acknowledging past Air Jordan achievements while driving the next wave of on-court accomplishments.
The Air Jordan 40 brings forward the best NIKE, Inc. innovations in a silhouette that evolves Jordan Brand’s obsession with style and design, making the shoe both a force on the court and a fitting next chapter in the Jordan Brand legacy of greatness.
For the first time across NIKE, Inc., the Air Jordan 40 pairs full-length Nike ZoomX foam with a full Zoom Strobel, providing hoopers unparalleled responsiveness and explosive force with every movement.
ZoomX is NIKE, Inc.’s softest, lightest, and most responsive foam, which delivers athletes 85 percent energy return and powers some of the greatest performances in sport. The full-length Zoom Strobel places Nike’s most responsive cushioning directly underfoot to provide the propulsion required for explosive on-court movement.
Paired together, the two landmark innovations combine to create a first-of-its-kind ride for athletes, enabling powerful, fast movement alongside best-in-class support and recovery.

The Air Jordan 40 also features a premium construction that delivers elite levels of support and protection; webbing that enables 360-degree containment while offering a subtle nod to Michael Jordan’s six championships; and a unique traction pattern comprised of 40-degree angles designed to help hoopers start and stop on a dime.
Together, these innovations provide a comfortable, high-performance ride that's engineered to keep hoopers in the game and playing at their peak.

The new silhouette carries forward the iconic design legacy of the Air Jordan lineage, referencing details from prior models in a striking new look. In an additional nod to the four-decade history of Air Jordan footwear, the silhouette’s logo is designed entirely of 40-degree angles — a theme mirrored on the herringbone traction pattern, which also calls to mind several of the franchise’s most iconic outsole designs.
The silhouette will take on nine unique colorways over the coming year, each featuring unique upper materials that advance the Air Jordan franchise into its fifth decade.
The Air Jordan 40 will be available July 12 at jordan.com and select retail locations.
